TAMUG Holds 3rd Annual Student Research Symposium

 

Texas A&M University at Galveston and the office of Research and Graduate Studies hosted the 3rd Annual Student Research Symposium on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Undergraduate and graduate students alike presented posters on a variety of topics.

Taking top honors with the best overall award in the Graduate category was Ryan Schloesser. Mr. Schloesser’s poster “Using δ13C and δ18O in otoliths to determine natal origin of Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) from the Gulf of St. Lawrence” focused on management and conservation of Atlantic bluefin tuna through increased knowledge of stock mixing and migration patterns.

Laura White received the best overall award in the Undergraduate category for her poster “Passivation Polymer Bulking vs. Sucrose Impregnation: A cross-methodological approach to the conservation of archaeological Leather.”
