Student Regent Cassidy Daniels Visits TAMUG

Student Regent Cassidy Daniel visited the Texas A&M University at Galveston Campus on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.  Ms. Daniel is  pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science at West Texas A&M University. 

 

Ms. Daniel - pictured above with Grant Shallenberger (left) and Student Body President, Mike Spiers - met with university representatives from faculty, staff and students. In addition, she tour the Ship Simulator, Ship, and campus.  "I knew about the ship, but I have learned a great deal by visiting the campus and seeing it with my own eyes," she said.

 

Ms. Daniel is  pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science at West Texas A&M University. She serves as the president pro tempore of the West Texas A&M University Student Senate and she is the Chapter Chairman for the Young Conservatives of Texas at West Texas A&M University and the Vice Chairman of Chapter Relations for the state.  Ms. Daniel is also a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, Mortar Board, Collegiate Girl Scouts, Alpha Chi, Gamma Beta Phi, and a former member of Tau Beta Sigma, the national band service sorority.

Ms. Daniel is the 2006 Ronald Reagan Future Leaders’ Scholar, the 2006 State Award recipient for Outstanding Chapter Chairman for the Young Conservatives of Texas, and a 2003 Girl Scout Gold Award recipient.  She was a member of the West Texas A&M University marching and concert bands, playing the sousaphone and tuba, and received the John Philip Sousa Band Award in 2003.

Ms. Daniel has served as a volunteer for Girl Scouts Five Star Council, Hereford Girl Scouts, Young Conservatives of Texas, and Tau Beta Sigma.  Her interests include music, travel, cross-stitching, movies, church activities, reading, crafts and theater.

Ms. Daniel was appointed as Student Regent of The Texas A&M University System by Governor Rick Perry in February 2007.  Student Regents have the same powers and duties as the members of the Board of Regents, with the exception of voting and being counted to determine a quorum.  Daniel’s term expires May 31, 2008.
