residence halls, they cause bad IP addresses to be sent out to the network when configured
incorrectly. 3- Do not violate copyright laws, no unauthorized
distribution or downloading should be done on the University network. Why is TAMUG implementing Clean Access? Some of the reasons we are implementing Cisco Clean Access is to help stop the spread of viruses and worms on the campus network. Many machines don't have adequate virus protection and have not done all the recommended patch updates for their operating systems. If you run Windows XP or 2000 there are Microsoft recommended updates that help keep the machines from becoming infected with viruses and worms. Cisco Clean Access uses a client that you down load to your computer and scans for updated virus protection, patch updates and spyware. By using your NetID/ NEO username and password to register your computer on the network, we are able to identify who is accessing the University Network. If we discover a problem with a machine on the network we will be able to contact you to help solve the problem. We are doing this to help with the speed and availability of the network in the residence halls, we need to keep the problem machines off the network until they are fixed. We don't want the machines with problems to slow down the network for all the machines that are in good working order. Click here for Non-Windows Machines (Linux, Apple Macintosh)
